I was born and raised in Cincinnati Ohio. Although I miss the snow and Graeter’s ice cream (which thankfully I recently discovered one can buy in the grocery store!), I knew I would end up somewhere a bit warmer! I completed my bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Emory University where I graduated Summa Cum Laude. I then returned to Ohio (to Kent State University) for graduate school. (I guess I forgot how cold the winters were!).
 
After earning a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, I happily returned to the Southeast! I spent one year of postdoctoral training at Emory University School of Medicine/Grady Health System where I focused on the treatment of severe and persistent mental illness (such as Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Trauma related Disorders, and severe Personality Disorders).
 
I began building my practice, after completing my post-doc in 2000. Professionally, I am drawn to issues of depression and anxiety, severe and persistent mental illness, and women’s issues. In addition to my psychotherapy practice, I have been an active member of the Georgia Psychological Association and the Mecklenburg Psychological Association. I served on the Board of the Council on the Psychology of Women and Girls for six years, functioning in several different roles, including Chair. In 2010, I was honored to be awarded the status of Fellow of the Georgia Psychological Association.
 
I relocated to the Charlotte area in 2011 and have been enjoying getting to know the city and North Carolina's professional community.
